Depending on the desired surface and effect to be achieved during the slide grinding process, different additives can be added.

• Grinding and polishing pastes/powders contain polishing and grinding materials with different additives. Grinding pastes/powders are added to increase grinding strength, so that greater material abrasion occurs. Polishing pastes/powders are generally finer. By adding them, the surface is smoothed in such a manner that a mirror-like surface can be achieved.
• Separation aid media (THM=Trennhilfsmittel) are composed of small acryl glass pearls that prevent workpieces from sticking together during the slide grinding process due to adhesion. 
• Anti-foaming agents are chemical formulations that are applied either to suppress foaming or to break down foam generated by the mechanical impact in the slide grinding system. Their effect is based on the combination of surface-active substances and solubilizers.
